Ip Man 4 is coming this year and the big fight is set to feature Donnie Yen facing off against Jackie Chan.

The main plot of the movie being Ip man (Donnie Yen) has ventured to American to help his student Bruce Lee (played by Kwok-Kwan Chan) set up a Wing Chun school which turns out to be challenging. Lee offends the locals and Ip Man comes to his aid.

This marks the 4 entry in the Ip Man franchise which will most likely be the last.

Donnie Yen made the announcement in a post to his Instagram. Here’s a caption which has been roughly translated to English.

I believe Ip Man movies inspired millions not because we had created a hero, it’s because it was about the spirit and the integrity of a man, a man who loves his family and country, April 7, first day of shooting, from the first three episodes, I’m again, continuing this 4th and probably the last missionary journey

Ip Man is based on the true story of the martial arts master who first taught Bruce Lee Wing Chun. Although a lot of what actually happened in the movie is fabricated they do feature some truly stunning martial arts scenes. I would highly recommend them even if you’re not a martial arts fan.

According to Chinese entertainment outlet JayneStars.com, the film’s biggest highlight is Yen’s fight scene with Jackie Chan, who plays “a respected Big Brother in Chinatown.”

Unlike The Forbidden Kingdom which was the first film to feature martial arts legend Jet Li and Jackie Chan squaring off. Anyone who knows their martial arts films knows this is not the first time Donnie Yen and Chan have faced off on camera.

They battled it out in Shanghai Knights and also had a pretty epic battle in Blade of Kings (Twins effect2)

As much as I love Jackie Chan, I am actually more interested in how the talented Scott Adkins will feature.  Will we see an epic battle between Ip Man and Boyka or maybe even Bruce Lee and Boyka? Only time will tell.
