So, with the unfortunate cancellation of Jean-Claude Van Johnson after 1 season. Jean-Claude-Van-Damme announced back in February he’s working on the sequel to Lion Heart or A.W.O.L as it’s known in Europe. A.W.O.L was about a French foreign legion soldier Lyon, whose brother got mixed up with the wrong crowd and is severely hurt. Being the French foreign legion, you can’t just leave to attend family matter so Lyon goes A.W.O.L (Absent without leave) to travel to America. Only trouble is he arrives too late, his brother dies leaving a wife and kid who Lyon feel responsible to provide for. So, he participants in underground fights to make money to provide for them.

It came out when Van Damme was at the height of popularity following on from another van dammecornerstone movie in his career Kickboxer. Though the movie was torn apart by critics but hey what do critics know, the fans loved it.
It was one of my favorites of his, I literally bought it as soon as it was available to buy. A sequel has been talked about for a while now.
In a now deleted post, Van Damme took to social media to announce that Lionheart 2 is happening and that production begins later this year. Not quite sure why he deleted it. The movie synopsis is still available on various websites.

“A cynical street hustler takes in a talented fighter on the lam from the authorities, helping the fighter raise money for his family as he uses him to pay down his own large gambling debts through underground street fights.
As the fighter slowly discovers the connection between his family’s tragedy and the hustler’s boss, he realizes that, on the streets, it’s hard to tell friend from foe, and even harder to do something about it”

According to the website Movie Hole, Van Damme also has a bunch of other projects on the go including a sequel to The Quest.
My question is, is Lion Heart 2 still happening? It’s been 6 months now with no updates. It is no longer listed on Rodin Entertainment. And the only ones project listed as post-production on IMDB is We Die Young and Falconman.
If it does eventually come to light it will probably be a straight to DVD job unfortunately but I for one would love to see Van Damme step back into the shoes of one of his iconic roles. Here’s hoping.
